Pollinator Habitat Workshop
Interested in attracting pollinating insects to your garden? Don’t miss the Land Trust's Pollinator Habitat Workshop at Spruce Acres Farm on Saturday, April 26. We'll share ways that you can help provide a home for pollinating and other beneficial insects in your backyard and discuss different features of pollinator habitat and pollinator-friendly ways to prep your garden for the spring. Afterward, participants will learn more about hoverflies, an important type of pollinator, from Rhode Island Natural History Survey entomologist George Christie and get the chance to build and bring home their very own “hoverfly lagoon”!
NOTE: Participants are encouraged to bring a leftover 1/2 gallon milk jug or similar-sized, water-holding plastic container to the workshop to build their hoverfly lagoon.

King Park Earth Day Cleanup
Join Friends of the Waterfront for a cleanup of King Park in downtown Newport. We’ll spend two hours cleaning up litter along the shoreline and park areas using provided gloves, trash grabbers, and bags. Volunteers of all ages are welcome—stay as long as you like! PLOG WITH US IN TIVERTON!
Join us to plog (jog and pick up trash) in Tiverton! This event is free and all are welcome to attend. Plogging is picking up trash during any activity. Walkers and runners welcome. Walkers to cover the beach and runners to cover the surrounding roads. Clean-up supplies will be provided. This event is in partnership with Farm Coast Run Club and the Tiverton Litter Committee. Albro Woods Work Party
Ready to dig in and make a difference? Team up with the Middletown Tree Commission and Open Space Committee for a hands-on adventure in Albro Woods! This pilot project takes on beech leaf disease, testing new ways to protect our trees. Roll up your sleeves to clear out pesky invasives, plant native trees, and give the forest a fighting chance. Miantonomi Park Cleanup
Help us clean up Miantonomi Park to protect the wildlife and beautify the community!
The Aquidneck Land Trust is holding a community-based volunteer litter clean-up at Miantonomi Memorial Park on Saturday, April 5. Meet at the park's field from 9:45-10 a.m. for refreshments, coffee, and donuts. From there, we will head into the woods and clean up litter using gloves, trash grabbers, and trash bags. All materials will be provided. Dress for the weather and bring a reusable water bottle.
Removing litter will beautify the community's local park and protect against wildlife habitat degradation. We hope that you can come and help support these two important causes!

The Last Bumblebee Documentary Screening
Join us for a documentary screening of The Last Bumblebee (2023), which showcases the importance of bee species conservation and wildflower populations. Clean Up with Save The Bay's Hamilton Family Aquarium
Join Save The Bay to help keep our neighboring parks and Narragansett Bay clean! Save The Bay’s Hamilton Family Aquarium is hosting shoreline cleanups on the 2nd Thursday of every month from 10 AM to 12 PM. As a thank-you, all participants will enjoy free admission to the Aquarium on the day of the event. Be part of this impactful effort to protect our environment and support local wildlife! This month, we will be focusing on Perrotti Park & Storer Park.
We will meet by the front entrance of the Aquarium. Parking can be found here. Be sure to save your parking ticket to get validated for the day! This site is also accessible by RIPTA routes: 14, 60, 63, 64, 231 Flex, and hop-on-hop-off routes 67 and 68.

WHAT: You are invited to participate in Save The Bay's Plastic Brand Survey! Collecting data on brands as a part of Break Free From Plastic's Global Brand Audit can help us hold corporations accountable for plastic pollution. We will collect shoreline litter and then practice sorting it by brand and type of plastic and entering the data on the TrashBlitz app. Participating in this pilot project will help Save The Bay design and launch a full brand survey of Narragansett Bay in the future!

Speaker Bio: David W. Gregg has been the director of the Rhode Island Natural History Survey since 2004. An amateur naturalist since childhood, by training David is an archaeologist who’s excavated in Europe and Alaska. He holds a Ph.D. in anthropology from Brown University. Before the Survey, David directed the Spellman Museum of Stamps, in Weston, Mass., and was a curator at Brown’s Haffenreffer Museum.

Spring Garden Cleanup
Aquidneck Community Table (ACT) invites you to participate in a springtime garden clean-up, self-guided food forest tour, and youth scavenger hunt. Located on Aquidneck Land Trust property and leased by ACT, Island Community Farm (ICF) hosts 45 community garden plots, two micro farm parcels, a pollinator garden, and food forest. A parking guide will be present once you reach the property and gloves will be provided if you do not have your own. Enjoy an afternoon of light refreshments and your hands in the earth at the beautiful Island Community Farm!

Mary Jameson will have an open studio on Suday, April 21 from 11-2 pm. Mary uses seaweed and organic materials collected from the marine environment in her work. Stop by her studio to see a seaweed pressing demonstration and learn more about how it contributes to the health of the ocean.
